What is Scout Source

Picture
Scout Source is an educational tool designed to bring the events of 9-11 to the Scouts of today. A 15 year old Scout was only 6 years old when these events occurred.

On September 11, 2001, at 8:46 AM, a commercial airliner, hijacked by Islamic Extremists, struck the North Tower of The World Trade Center in New York City. This was the beginning of an attack that would forever change our country. On that morning, 4 separate planes were hijacked and used to attack and damage the Pentagon and destroy The World Trade Center, bringing down the two largest towers in a matter of hours, and causing the collapse of a third building in the complex that afternoon. The crew and passengers of all four airliners were killed, along with thousands of civilians and uniformed emergency personnel. By day’s end, over 3,000 innocent people had lost their lives.

As we approach the tenth anniversary of this historic tragedy, it is fitting that scouters and non-scouters alike take time to learn about and remember the events of this day. Scout Source has been developed as a resource to help us do this. We have provided some ideas that will allow us to honor this day as individuals, dens, packs, patrols, troops, councils, and communities, and pay tribute to those who perished.

Take these ideas...use them....build on them....and make 9/11 a living memory. It is in our hearts and minds that these people live on.
